Hester Hits a Home Run for Lurie Children’s Hospital

Hester was called in to help their client, Lurie Children’s Hospital(Main Campus), with a waiting/play area. The area is themed to feel like you’re at Comiskey Park enjoying White Sox Baseball. As you can see in the “before” photos, a medical cart damaged one of the walls. Hester Painting & Decorating was called in to try to repair the wall and return it to the original mural scene.

Our master craftsman, Dante Peralta, was able to accomplish the goal. Here are the steps involved with restoring the baseball scene.

  • Gather color samples from the damaged drywall and mix colors as necessary to match the existing Art/Mural.
  • Remove damaged drywall due to damage caused by the run away medical cart.
  • Replace with new drywall, tape in new drywall to a level 5 finish, and prime the wall with PVA.
  • Replicate the art/mural using the custom mixed colors.
  • Seal the wall for color retention, washability, and protection from any other forms of wear and tear.

Hester’s client was ecstatic with the results, and more important, so were the children
