Hester Painting & Decorating is honored to be involved with the complete rehab and makeover for a condo located on Lake Michigan in Chicago.
We were fortunate to work with an incredible Interior Designer, Laura Barnett, who has such elegant taste and the perfect touch for the use of our specialty and faux finishes throughout the project.
Hester worked side by side with the talented carpenters at Tip Top Builders who provided the blank palette for our artistic painters to work on.
Hester’s scope of work included preparation, priming, and painting all surfaces throughout the 5000 square foot condo. That includes all ceilings, walls, millwork, cabinets, woodwork, doors, etc. In addition to the basic painting, Hester also had the great opportunity to provide decorative finishes to 75% of the space. They installed hand painted wallcoverings. The specialty and faux finishes included: antique glazed woodwork and walls, mottled glaze techniques, wood graining, silver and gold leaf, and glaze strie finishes.

All woodwork was painted and then received an antique glaze strie technique. All of the doors and panels were wood grain faux finished to match the real walnut in the rest of the room.
The walls received a soft mottled glaze and the woodwork received an antiqued strie glaze.
The ceiling in the Foyer received a silver leaf technique that also had a light glaze applied to give the silver leaf an aged look. The silver leaf was also applied to the walls.
The Hester wallpaper installers hung this hand painted wallcovering. In addition, for the woodwork, Hester applied an antique glaze.

In this Guest Bedroom, Hester painted all of the trim and doors with a crisp white satin finish to go along with the linen fabric wallpaper that they installed.
This ceiling in the Master Suite has the perfect combination of the beautiful silver leaf installation paired with the exotic light fixture. It is absolutely striking. Hester’s team installed a grasscloth wallcovering and painted all of the trim with a satin finish in the Guest Bedroom.
