Another $8,000 raised this year brings the grand total to $64,447.
Steve Hester, of Wilmette, and his family have been walking and raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Association by walking in the Memory Walk for the past five years.
This year the family, which owns Hester Painting and Decorating, totaled $8,045 for the walk Sept. 11, utilizing their personal and business lives to aid the donations.
“We have a lot of generous family, friends and customers,” Hester said. “Even during these tough economical times a lot of people have been more than willing to help us out.”
It isn’t a random association for the Hester family. Steve’s grandmother passed away from the disease, and the family has rallied for the walk every since.
Steve said, Hester Painting and Decorating holds a donation-matching program for employees and offers discounts to customers who donate.
