I love lists. Really, I live by them. In addition to my calendar, they keep me productive and on track. Typically, my lists consist of “to-dos” for my business, my kids and my personal life. Rarely do they have any items regarding my home, other than a few remaining punchlist items from our remodeling project. As I researched the topic of home maintenance, I found that many people are like me – completely unaware of potentially neglecting routine home maintenance. Yikes!
Lucky for those of us blissfully unaware, Hester Painting & Decorating is just weeks away from rolling out their Brand NEW division – Hester Home Maintenance. While details will be forthcoming, I can share that it will be a quarterly program that covers over 30 important home maintenance items such as:
o Checking the operation of the sump pump and water heater – to Prevent Flooding
o Cleaning your dryer exhaust vents and kitchen hood vents – to Prevent Fires
o Checking the weather stripping on your exterior doors – to Save Money on Utilities
o Changing your furnace filters regularly – to Efficiently Operate and Save Money
o Changing batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors – to Keep You and Your Family Safe
Steve Hester, President of Hester Painting & Decorating says, “It is important to always remember to keep up with your home maintenance, but as everyone appears to be busier and busier, the simple steps seem to keep getting overlooked. Just like skipping an oil change can cause big problems with your car, skipping the work on the home maintenance checklist can cause very big problems at home.”
I have to admit that I never thought of it that way. It makes total sense, though, and I’m truly grateful that we haven’t had any major home maintenance issues.
